General Questions Asked By Our Supporters
What is BORDER911 Foundation, Inc. and what do we stand for?
BORDER911 Foundation, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) educational nonprofit founded by former Acting ICE Director and current U.S. Border Czar, Thomas D. Homan. Our mission is to give every American fact-based, first-hand insight into how an unsecure border fuels crime, drug trafficking, human-trafficking, and national-security threats. Our team is made up of career law-enforcement leaders who helped create the most secure U.S. border in modern history, and we exist to ensure voters and policymakers understand why border security is indispensable to America’s safety and prosperity.
Why is border security essential to national safety?
-
Public safety: Since 2021 CBP has encountered more than 140,000 individuals with criminal records at the border and seized over 3 million pounds of narcotics—including 14,700 lbs. of fentanyl in FY 2022 alone. U.S. Department of Homeland Security
-
Public health: Fentanyl poisoning killed an estimated 48,422 Americans in 2024, making synthetic opioids the leading cause of death for adults 18-44. CDC
-
National security: More than 2,500 individuals on the Terrorist Screening Dataset have been encountered since 2021. U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
A secure border disrupts these flows; without it, every community—far beyond the Southwest—absorbs the consequences.
How is the border crisis impacting American communities?
-
Overdose deaths: Although fatalities fell in 2024, synthetic opioids still claimed over 130 lives every day. CDC
-
Violent crime & human-trafficking: CBP data show record interceptions of sex-offenders and a child being trafficked can be “sold up to 30 times per day.” U.S. Customs and Border Protection
-
Local resources: Shelters, hospitals, and school districts in non-border states are absorbing rapid population inflows; in March 2025 alone, 7,181 people were apprehended between ports of entry—95 % lower than a year before but still straining services. U.S. Customs and Border Protection
What solutions does BORDER911 Foundation, Inc. propose for securing the border?
-
Finish and maintain the modern border-barrier system (physical wall, access roads, lighting, sensors) to slow illegal crossings and give agents response time.
-
Restore consequence-driven enforcement—detain, remove, or swiftly adjudicate unlawful entrants while reviving “Remain in Mexico”-style protocols that cut false asylum claims.
-
Re-empower interior enforcement so sanctuary jurisdictions do not undercut border gains.
-
Target cartels as the national-security threat they are—designate them FTOs, disrupt their finances, and expand multi-agency task-forces.
-
Leverage proven technology & manpower—integrated surveillance towers, drones, ground sensors, and adequate staffing for USBP, OFO, and ICE.
These recommendations come from decades of operational experience and mirror what created historically low illegal crossings in 2019–2020.
